2027 Hyundai Kona
2027 Hyundai Kona
Shoppers who want a small crossover that still handles a long Alberta highway day need room, traction and tech in one tidy footprint. The 2027 Hyundai Kona answers with five trims: Essential, Preferred, Preferred Trend, Luxury and N Line Ultimate. Four use a 2.0 L four-cylinder, and the N Line Ultimate steps up to a turbocharged 1.6 L with 190 hp.
Front-wheel drive is limited to the first two trims, and every trim from Preferred Trend up is all-wheel drive. Inside, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a dual-level cargo floor are part of the picture, while higher trims add a power sunroof, Bose audio and a full digital cluster. The N Line Ultimate carries the most driver-assistance technology and a sportier visual identity.
Sherwood Park drivers who split time between city errands and prairie-foothills highways will find the Kona sized for both. The sections below walk through what changes from trim to trim, and how pricing and arrival are handled.
What’s new on the 2027 Hyundai Kona?

Exterior
The Kona’s look shifts as you climb the trims. The Essential rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels with P215/60R17 all-season tires. From Preferred upward, the Kona gets 18-inch wheels, roof rails, rear privacy glass and aero wiper blades. Preferred Trend and Luxury add premium dark gray body cladding and chrome window belt moulding, giving the body a more rugged edge.
The N Line Ultimate takes a different road. It wears 19-inch wheels with P235/45R19 tires, body-coloured cladding, its own front fascia and grille, a rear bumper with a diffuser, and N Line emblems on the grille and fender. A two-tone body colour can be added on this trim.
The Kona measures 4,350 mm long on the 2.0 L trims, with a 2,660 mm wheelbase and 1,825 mm width. The N Line Ultimate stretches to 4,385 mm. Ground clearance is 170 mm on front-drive Essential and Preferred models, 205 mm on AWD versions of the 2.0 L trims, and 210 mm on the N Line Ultimate.
Chinook thaw-and-freeze cycles leave rutted side streets around Sherwood Park, and that extra height under the body suits them. Full-line LED daytime running lights and LED turn signals inside the headlights and taillights are standard on Luxury and N Line Ultimate. A wide power tilt-and-slide sunroof is standard from Preferred Trend upward.

Interior
Seat materials set the cabin mood. Cloth covers the Essential and Preferred, leatherette the Preferred Trend and Luxury, and the N Line Ultimate has leather and suede combination seats with red accents and stitching. That trim also gets metal sport pedals, deluxe door scuff plates and paddle shifters. Preferred and above use a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and heated front seats are standard on all five trims.
Seating is rated for five. Front-row headroom is 974 mm on Luxury and Preferred Trend, and the Essential has 1,013 mm. Front legroom is 1,059 mm and rear legroom is 970 mm on the trims with published interior dimensions. The 60/40 split rear seats fold, and the dual-level cargo floor gives you two heights to load to. Cargo space measures 723 L behind the rear seats and 1,803 L with them folded.
Dual-zone automatic climate control arrives with the Preferred Trend, and Luxury adds a 64-colour ambient lighting system and an 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support. Ventilated front seats belong to the N Line Ultimate alone. Two USB-C outlets sit in front and two in the rear, so every passenger has a place to plug in on a long run toward the mountains.
Features

Powertrain
Four trims share the 2.0 L four-cylinder, which makes 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque and runs on regular unleaded. It pairs with an Intelligent Variable Transmission. Combined fuel economy is 7.5 L/100 km on a front-drive Essential and 7.6 L/100 km on a front-drive Preferred. Add all-wheel drive and the Essential rates 8.5 L/100 km combined, while the Preferred, Preferred Trend and Luxury rate 8.6 L/100 km. The fuel tank holds 47 L. All-wheel drive includes Active Cornering Control.
The N Line Ultimate uses a turbocharged 1.6 L four-cylinder with 190 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, sent through all-wheel drive and an eight-speed transmission. Its fuel economy is 9.9 L/100 km in the city, 8.1 L/100 km on the highway and 9.1 L/100 km combined, and its tank holds 50 L. The Essential and Preferred are offered with front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available on both.

Technology
Entertainment: A 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard on Essential, Preferred, Preferred Trend and Luxury. The N Line Ultimate carries that same size of screen with on-board navigation. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands-free calling and the BlueLink connected vehicle system come on every trim, and remote start on the key fob does too. Audio steps up by grade: a 6-speaker system serves Essential, Preferred and Preferred Trend, while Luxury and N Line Ultimate carry an 8-speaker Bose premium system. Wireless device charging joins at Preferred Trend, along with Hyundai Digital Key and a proximity-activated smart liftgate. A 4.2-inch colour TFT cluster serves the first three trims, and Luxury and N Line Ultimate move to a 12.3-inch full digital instrument cluster.
Safety: Every trim has Lane Following Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Warning, Driver Attention Warning and Rear Occupant Alert. Airbags include front and rear side air curtains, and stability control, ABS and tire pressure monitoring are standard throughout. The Essential has Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection. Preferred and above upgrade it with junction-turning detection and add Adaptive Cruise Control with stop and go. The N Line Ultimate carries the broadest list: Highway Driving Assist, Surround View Monitor, Blind View Monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist, forward, side and reverse parking distance warning, and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist in reverse.
